Nate River (ネイト・リバー, Neito Ribā), better known as Near (ニア, Nia), is one of L's two successors, raised in Watari's orphanage for gifted children (Wammy's House).
Near makes an appearance as one of protagonist and heroes in Death Note: Eru Desu and is the first who tries to catch Kira.
