"Join us. Three’s better than two. Raght’s smokin’ me anyways…"

— Elir Mepherik, begging Ryuk to join his gambling game

Elir Mepherik is a low-ranking Shinigami. He was promoted to a higher rank after the deaths of Gelus and Rem.

Personality

Elir Mepherik loves to talk and gamble. He also enjoys killing humans. He makes up stories about the humans' lives before killing them, and he shares these stories with the other Shinigami. He is considered to be somewhat of a poet because of this and is mocked by the other Shinigami who think he takes his job too seriously. Elir's obsessive gambling forces him to kill many humans, as he often bets years of his life in gambling games, and he is not particularly skilled at gambling either. Mepherik doesn't really care about the events going on the human realm, which is why he uses his imagination to come up with stuff he finds interesting.

History

Elir Mepherik was a low-ranking Shinigami during the events of the Death Note series. He rose to the fourteenth rank after Gelus and Rem died. He likely would have risen higher in the rankings if not for Raght appearing and taking the fourth rank.

Mepherik was shown gambling with Raght in the first chapter. He witnessed both Ryuk and Raght jump through the portal to the human realm, though he had no desire to join them.
In the last chapter of this arc, Mepherik was still sitting in front of the same portal when Jakkuran appeared, looking for his missing Death Note. Elir Mepherik then directed him to the human realm, assuming that Ryuk had accidentally taken Jakkuran's note while mistakenly believing it had belonged to the deceased Shinigami Baloucher.

Trivia

  • Elir Mepherik is an unnamed canon Shinigami in the Death Note series, though his name is fanon.
